Paul Hylton; Mechanic, 50-Year County Resident

Paul S. Hylton of Santa Paula, a 50-year Ventura County resident who worked as a heavy-equipment mechanic for a quarter century, died at his home Wednesday after a brief illness. He was 90.
He was born Feb. 5, 1907, in Dunlap, Kan.
Hylton was known for driving his antique Cadillacs in local parades. He received numerous trophies and awards for his participation.
Hylton, who owned a dry-cleaning business in Long Beach during the 1930s, moved to Ventura County in the 1940s after working at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Long Beach during World War II.
He is survived by sons Robert and Richard Hylton, both of Santa Paula; a sister, Bethel Ryman of Council Grove, Kan.; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Santa Paula First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Diana Hopkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
