Gang Injunction

Re “Valley Gang Injunction Only Shifted Crime, ACLU Says,” May 29: There in the photograph stands the ACLU’s Allan Parachini as he attempts to paint the success of a court-approved injunction against gang congregation around Blythe Street as a “failure” because gangbangers took their troublemaking and crime elsewhere.

There were only two “failures” with the injunction, which was a pilot effort. One was that it applied to an area less than a 30-mile radius from the trouble spot, which is what it might take to totally disorganize criminal activity in a mobile car-based society like Los Angeles.

Next time, the injunction area gets bigger. Simple as that.

The other is the failure of ACLU officials to fool anyone with their report. But until the communist menace and the HUAC come back, fighting for criminals and criminal rights over the desperate needs of communities and families must be the best they can do.
