Obituaries : Michale J. MacConell; Navy Civil Engineer

Michale Julian MacConell, a Ventura resident who served as a civil engineer in the U.S. Navy for more than 30 years, died Sunday after a sudden illness.
MacConell was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Globe, Ariz. He earned a degree in education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, and a degree in civil engineering at the University of Hawaii.
Thirty-seven years ago he moved to Ventura County, where he and his wife, Nancy, raised their family. MacConell was a 50-year member of Naval Lodge 87, and was an avid tennis player.
In addition to his wife, MacConell is survived by his mother, Pauline MacConell of Globe, Ariz.; two daughters, Michele King of Nipomo, Calif., and Suzanne DePree of Santa Paula; a son, Michale III of Oxnard; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, with the Rev. Jim Wells officiating. Interment will be in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
