As the search continued Monday for two gang members suspected of gunning down a pair of teenagers at a weekend house party, police released the names of the young victims.
Tom Huynh, 14, of Fullerton and Son Thanh Nguyen, 15, of Garden Grove were identified as the boys who died after gang members opened fire about 8 p.m. Saturday after crashing an end-of-school party in Westminster.
Another unidentified teen shot in the incident remained in critical condition Monday, police said.
Witnesses said the two suspects, reputed to be gang members from Garden Grove, barged uninvited into the party in the 13300 block of Nevada Street. They were asked to leave, but instead opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun.
Police identified the suspects as Van Ngoc Nguyen, 18, and Phong Quoc Nguyen, 19, both of Garden Grove. Neither the suspects nor victim who share the same last name are related.
Monday, the mother of the two teenagers who hosted the party was still asking herself how a get-together of friends could turn so deadly.
“I’m still trying to understand because never in my life can I imagine something like this happening,” said the 42-year-old woman, who asked that her name not be used for safety reasons. “I’ve heard so much about the violence of gangs, and I’m so afraid.”
