WASHINGTON — The government has introduced a new program to boost immunization rates among poor children who historically miss the shots that prevent disease later in life.
The three-year pilot program will divide $800,000 in grant money among housing projects in Chicago; Kansas City, Mo.; Philadelphia; and Little Rock, Ark., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
Volunteers will try to educate residents and area doctors through a variety of activities. Successful programs will be duplicated in other cities.
