Kile Sad May Is on Its Way

HOUSTON — Darryl Kile finished off his impressive May with another win, and the Houston Astros sent the San Diego Padres to their fifth consecutive loss, 10-6 Thursday night.
Kile (6-2) went 5-0 with a 1.20 earned-run average in May.
He struck out nine in seven innings, giving up five runs and eight hits.
Kile helped himself with a two-run double during a six-run fourth inning.
Jeff Bagwell drove in two runs and Luis Gonzalez had three hits as Houston ended a three-game losing streak.
Greg Vaughn hit a run-scoring single for the Padres in the ninth, but Craig Shipley grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game.
Fernando Valenzuela (2-7) lasted only 2 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks. He also made a throwing error.
