From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A man who said he found a $6.8-million lottery ticket on the floor of his restaurant was charged with stealing the ticket from a patron. Jaspaul Narang duped the man, identified by police only as “R. Bernard,†by telling him his numbers had only entitled him to a free ticket, police said. They said Bernard told them that he later found that the six winning numbers are the same numbers that he regularly plays. Narang, 45, of Annandale, Va., was released on his own recognizance after he turned the ticket over to state police. He faces a June 9 preliminary hearing on the charge of grand larceny.
