Plan Calls for Theaters, Restaurant Expansion
- Share via
Residents of Ocean Park in Santa Monica met Monday to study a controversial development proposal in their neighborhood.
At the Ocean Park Community Organization, a developer’s representative described the proposal to turn Edgemar, a former art museum, into two live performance theater spaces.
In addition to adding the theaters, developer Abby Sher proposes expanding a restaurant that operates on the property and getting the city’s permission to serve alcohol and food in a courtyard, said Gerda Newbold, a spokeswoman for the organization.
Based on discussion at the meeting, the organization plans to take a stand on the proposal soon, and will present its position at the Santa Monica Planning Commission meeting May 28.
