Man Slashed After Road Confrontation

Police are looking for a man who allegedly slashed the arm of Fillmore resident Michael Thompson with a kitchen utensil after a hit-and-run accident.

Thompson, 25, who escaped serious injury, told Port Hueneme police that he was driving southbound on Ventura Road about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday when his car was hit from behind by another vehicle, a police spokesman said.

Thompson followed the car to the Port City Plaza, where the car had parked. As Thompson was writing down the license plate number, the driver and the passenger got out of the car and went after him, the spokesman said.

The passenger, armed with a celery cutter--a wood-handled device that has a foot-long blade with a sharpened tip--attacked Thompson, he said.

With his attacker slashing at him, Thompson put his arms up to protect his face and was cut just above the elbow. He also suffered a cut to the shin, police said.

His attackers were seen running from the area. Thompson was treated by paramedics at the scene and did not require further medical attention, officials said.
