Playwright Donald Freed bristles at the mention of “conspiracy theories,” yet that’s precisely what he tried to foist upon the reading public with his book “Killing Time” (“Be Afraid. In Fact, Be Very Afraid,” by Daryl H. Miller, April 27).
Jumping on the publishing bandwagon, Freed chose to ignore scientific evidence and common sense, asserting that O.J. Simpson’s guilt or innocence hinged upon discrepancies in the timeline, as if we all move through life with an atomic clock strapped to our wrists, knowing our precise location at any given time. “Never mind the blood in the Bronco, I have my trusty Timex!”
As playwrights go, Mr. Freed is rather like Harold Pinter as reinvented by “Hard Copy,” and it’s tough to take him seriously anymore.
