Dahlen Scores to End Slump and Give Blackhawks a Win
Ulf Dahlen benefited from a defensive lapse by the Buffalo Sabres and a slick pass from Chicago teammate Michael Sykora to score his first goal since Feb. 17.
It was a big one for the Blackhawks, who strengthened their chances of making the playoffs with a 3-2 victory Sunday at Chicago.
“I didn’t know if Michael would shoot it or not,†Dahlen said. “He passed it across and I knew the goalie was going sideways and I just tried to get it off quick.â€
“[Everybody has] to keep scoring. We can’t just look at Tony [Amonte] and Alex [Zhamnov] and expect them to put it in all time.â€
Buffalo lost its fourth straight one-goal game and the Sabres are now 1-5 since star goalie Dominik Hasek was sidelined with a fractured rib.
Dallas 3, Vancouver 2--Mike Modano had two assists and Greg Adams scored the deciding goal six minutes into the third period as the Stars won at Vancouver.
The victory extended the Stars’ unbeaten streak to nine games (7-0-2) and ended a four-game unbeaten streak for the Canucks, whose playoff hopes took a blow.
