Kemp Gets Fined and Is Benched

Seattle forward Shawn Kemp will be fined and must come off the bench for at least two games for missing the SuperSonics’ team flight to Phoenix and a midafternoon practice Saturday, Coach George Karl said. “There’s no problem,†said Kemp, who arrived later that day.

Guard Bobby Phills was placed on the injured list and guard Carl Thomas was activated by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Phills sustained a severely strained left groin in Friday’s loss at Miami.
