What a ReLeaf: Group to Plant Trees Saturday
ReLeaf Costa Mesa is planting 55 trees from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at various Westside locations.
Trees are to be planted along Republic, National and Continental avenues and Capital and Senate streets. Volunteers are welcome and plan to meet under the ReLeaf canopy at the corner of Capital Street and National Avenue.
The organization, which last week won a nonvoting seat on the city’s Parks, Recreation Facilities and Parkways Commission, is working to plant 2,000 trees citywide by 2000. About 700 trees already have been planted with an additional 300 scheduled for this year.
Volunteers are urged to bring work gloves. Information: (714) 437-5874.
