Perhaps no other illness requires the involvement...
Perhaps no other illness requires the involvement of a third party like Alzheimer’s disease. The caregiver is the crucial link between the health care practitioner and the patient.
The TriAD program aims to improve the interaction between doctor, patient and caregiver. TriAD can also help families access the medical system to obtain the best possible treatment.
“The patient who is memory-impaired cannot report on his own symptoms. The physician is entirely dependent on the caregiver. One of the things the TriAD program does is help educate caregivers on how to observe and report these kinds of changes,†says Dr. Jeffrey L. Cummings, a neurologist at UCLA who served on the TriAD advisory board.
The free program--consisting of newsletters, brochures, videos, a phone help line--is sponsored by Pfizer Inc. and Eisai Inc. in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Assn. and the National Council on the Aging. The materials must be requested through a doctor. For more information, call toll-free (888) TriADHELP.
