Hydraulic Problems Force 2 Jets to Land
CLEVELAND — Two Continental Airlines Boeing 737 passenger jets made emergency landings here hours apart because of problems with hydraulic systems. No injuries were reported.
The first jet landed safely at Hopkins International Airport on Friday morning. Continental spokeswoman Karla Villalon said the problem was in the controls that steer the airplane on the ground, and the landing was a precaution. The Cleveland-bound flight from Newark, N.J., was carrying 88 passengers.
Nine hours later, a jet carrying 47 passengers and a four-person crew left Cleveland for Nashville but returned within 30 minutes when an indicator light alerted the pilot to a hydraulic problem.
