Elouise Crawford; Child Model, Philanthropist

Elouise Wohlwend Crawford, who as a 5-year-old was the White King Soap Girl for a national advertising campaign, has died. She was 63.

Crawford died Feb. 14 in San Jose, where she had lived for many years.

Born in Evanston, Ill., and brought up in Los Angeles, she did not continue her budding modeling career after her image became nationally familiar touting White King Soap. Instead, she married, raised four children and was active in philanthropic causes.

In recent years, after suffering a stroke, Crawford volunteered to help other stroke victims through the American Heart Assn. and the Valley Medical Center in Northern California. She also served as president of the San Jose Stroke Club.

She was a Coronet Ball debutante and attended USC. As a young woman, Crawford was active in the Ticktockers of the National Charity League, the Assistance League Juniors, the Debutante Flower Guild and the Junior Silver Spoons.

Survivors include her children, Bruce, Michael, Kevin and Joyce; a brother, Wells K. Wohlwend; and four grandchildren.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Assn.
