CSUN Plans Banquet for Lunar New Year
Cal State Northridge will celebrate the Chinese New Year with a banquet Saturday honoring the campus’ ties to the Chinese community.
Sponsored by CSUN’s China Institute, the banquet is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Golden Hunan Chinese restaurant in Northridge. The institute, which was founded in 1981, serves as a link between CSUN and nearly two dozen higher learning institutions in China.
Scholars from both countries have visited each other’s campuses over the year to study. Zhixin Su, director of the China Institute, said the banquet is a way of thanking those involved with the institute while celebrating the Chinese year of the ox.
CSUN currently has six visiting scholars from China, with 40 to 60 more expected to visit this summer.
