Clark Sets 2 Canyons Records

La Cresha Clark had 24 points, 28 assists, 10 steals and 10 rebounds and set the College of the Canyons single-season scoring record in a 132-33 victory over Santa Monica in a Western State Conference Southern Division women’s basketball game Wednesday night at Canyons.

Clark, who has 648 points, broke the record of 633 set by Tressie Millender in the 1989-90 season.

Clark also set the school record for assists in a game, breaking the mark of 24 set earlier this season by Kyetra Brown.

Nikki Turner added 21 points, 12 steals and 12 rebounds for the Cougars (28-4, 11-0 in conference play), who led Santa Monica (3-22, 1-9) at halftime, 66-10.

In other women’s basketball games:

Valley 84, Bakersfield 47--Jacque Tennies made all seven of her shots and scored 20 points for the Monarchs (23-9, 10-1) in a WSC Southern Division game at Valley. Tanya McGlaughlin added 15 points for Valley.

Wendy Komin led Bakersfield (11-15, 5-4) with 14 points.

Ventura 93, Santa Barbara City College 35--Amirah Leonard scored 23 points to lead the Pirates (30-1, 9-0) in a WSC Northern Division game at Ventura.

Leonard, who had eight assists, made five of seven three-point shots. Cindi Jensen added 21 points and Adria Sneed 17 for Ventura.

Antelope Valley 72, College of the Desert 55--Kristen Phillips scored 21 points for the Marauders (13-15, 8-7) in a Foothill Conference game at Desert.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Antelope Valley 107, Desert 94--Jonathan George had 24 points and 16 rebounds for the visiting Marauders (26-4, 7-0), who clinched at least a tie for their third consecutive Foothill Conference Northern Division title.

Valley 70, Bakersfield 57--Benny Hoang had 12 points and eight assists for the host Monarchs (22-9, 7-2), who moved to within a victory of clinching the WSC Southern Division title.

BASEBALL

Oxnard 3, Harbor 1--The Condors (7-6) scored two runs in the eighth inning on Brent Egan’s triple and Shawn Fossen’s single to take a 2-1 lead in a nonconference game at Harbor (8-5).
