Book Sale to Benefit Poinsettia’s Library

Sell books to acquire books.
That’s the idea behind a four-day book fair at Poinsettia Elementary School.
In an attempt to raise money to purchase reading material for the school’s library and classrooms, the Parent-Teacher Organization is sponsoring an event to sell paperback favorites.
Books geared toward elementary school students such as the Emelia Bedelia series, “Little Critters,” an e-mail mystery by Mercer Mayer, and “Officer Buckle and Gloria,” written by Ventura writer Peggy Rathmann can be purchased at the school’s cafeteria.
“We’re hoping the parents come to read with their kids,” said event organizer Carol Klein. “That’s what we’re stressing, to turn off the TV and spend some time reading.”
During the kickoff Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at 350 N. Victoria Ave, the school Principal Nancy Bradford, school district Supt. Joseph Spirito and radio personality Michael Katz plan to read books to the children.
The book fair will also be open Feb. 24 to 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Admission is free and the fair is open to the public.
