Winn Aims to Get a Grip on New Markets

Winn Inc., a Huntington Beach-based manufacturer of tennis racket grips, has added new product lines for golfers and baseball players.
Winn, one of the largest tennis grip manufacturers in the world, designed its new golf club grips for golfers whose hands, wrists and arms are prone to carpal tunnel syndrome, a painful disorder.
An orthopedic surgeon who has studied the grips said they could substantially reduce the risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome. “Many of my patients are golfers who have developed serious hand and wrist disorders . . . caused or exacerbated by their playing of the game,” Dr. Charles T. Resnick said. “The Winn Grips are expected to substantially reduce such injuries principally because they absorb shock better than any other golf grips on the market.”
The grips are available at sporting goods stores and pro shops around the country.
