A Ventura wedding reception turned violent Saturday after a scuffle left one man with a bullet in his leg and another injured from being struck with a bottle, police said.
According to police, Adalberto Ramirez, 20, of Ventura, and Alphonso Hinojosa, 20, of Lynwood, were attending a wedding reception at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall at 3801 Market St. when an argument broke out between them and several unidentified suspects about 10 p.m.
Ramirez was hit over the head with a bottle and, about the same time, Hinojosa shot himself in the leg with a handgun, police said.
Ramirez was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and later released. Hinojosa was admitted and is in stable condition.
