King update--They lost for the seventh time in 10 games since the All-Star break, 2-1, in overtime at Dallas on Sunday. The Kings are 8-19-3 in 30 road games. With Byron Dafoe sidelined because of a thumb injury, former Colorado goaltender Stephane Fiset has given up seven goals over three consecutive starts. Forward Kai Nurminen will not play because of a thigh injury.
Avalanche update--With 72 points, Colorado leads the NHL and has been in first place in the Pacific Division for most of the season. Goalie Patrick Roy made 29 saves in a 6-3 win over the Kings on Jan. 29. Colorado is 5-4 in its last nine games, seven of them were on the road. All four losses were against teams with records under .500.
