Majority Opposes Abolition of Miami

Two-thirds of Miami residents oppose a move to abolish the city despite scandals at City Hall, poor services and a huge budget deficit, a poll found. The Miami Herald-NBC 6 poll found that 66% of city residents oppose or are leaning against a proposal to abolish the city, with 20% in favor and 14% undecided. The move to dissolve the city began after a corruption scandal that snared a city commissioner and the city manager, and the discovery that Miami faced a $68-million budget shortfall.
