Greathouse’s 25 Points Make It Easy for Buena
Nicole Greathouse scored 25 points and Buena High shot 58% from the field to defeat Oxnard, 88-46, in a Channel League girls’ basketball game at Oxnard on Thursday night.
Rene Hoffman added 19 points for Buena (16-2, 10-0 in league play), which plays host to powerful Brea Olinda on Saturday night.
Jaline Bradley scored 12 points for Oxnard (10-10, 5-5).
In other girls’ games:
Ventura 61, Hueneme 32--Erin Oshita scored 19 points and Rhiannon Potkey had 13 points and seven assists for the Cougars (14-5, 7-3) in a Channel League game at Hueneme (0-10 in league).
Agoura 72, Camarillo 42--Kristin DeSimone had 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks to lead the Chargers (9-11, 4-6) in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.
Meghan Skelly had nine points and 12 rebounds for Agoura.
Simi Valley 58, Newbury Park 50--Shannon Malia scored 15 points and the Pioneers (16-7, 8-2) held off the Panthers (4-15, 2-8) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.
After falling behind, 17-4, in the first quarter, Newbury Park scored 24 points in the second quarter to trail, 31-28, at the half.
Royal 54, Westlake 39--The Highlanders (13-6, 8-2) built a 30-15 halftime lead at Royal and held on to move into a four-way tie for first place in the Marmonte League with Thousand Oaks, Channel Islands and Simi Valley.
Michelle Berlin (11 points) and Alicia Weber (10) led Royal.
La Reina 61, Fillmore 57--Kindrea Cuccia had 16 points and 15 rebounds to help the Regents (11-4, 5-1) avenge a loss to Fillmore in a Tri-Valley League game at La Reina.
April Kozar had 22 points for the Flashes (15-5, 5-1).
Oak Park 50, Bishop Diego 36--Michelle Frankson had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles (9-9, 4-2) in a Tri-Valley League game at Oak Park.
St. Bonaventure 48, Carpinteria 22--Jan McCarthy had 17 points and 10 steals and Jessica Cubitt had 18 rebounds for the Seraphs (6-13, 2-4) in a Tri-Valley League game at Carpinteria (0-17, 0-6).
Bell-Jeff 79, St. Anthony 31--Cheryl Flores had 18 points, six steals and eight assists and reserve guard Laura Lunsford scored 18 points, including five three-point baskets, to lead the Guards (21-1, 6-0) to their 20th consecutive victory in a Camino Real League game at St. Anthony.
Felicia Flores contributed 17 points and Jaclyn Johnson had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Bell-Jeff.
BOYS
Chaminade 64, Notre Dame 48--Scott Long and Matt Chirba each scored 17 points and Justin Stewart had 15 points and 20 rebounds for the Eagles (15-5, 6-1), who outrebounded the Knights, 45-17, in a Mission League game at Chaminade.
Jorge Piedra had 20 points for Notre Dame (2-5 in league play).
St. Francis 56, Loyola 52--Anton Cunningham and Chris Brugman each scored 16 points and the Golden Knights (13-8, 4-3) built a 10-point first-quarter lead and held off the Cubs (8-10, 3-4) in a Mission League game at St. Francis.
Viewpoint 40, L.A. Lutheran 38--Dan Roy had 15 points and Rami Shaarawy had 12 points for the Patriots (7-8, 2-3) in a Heritage League game at Viewpoint.
