Copters Save 30 on Ice Floes

CLEVELAND — Two Coast Guard helicopters hoisted 30 stranded ice fishermen to safety Thursday after ice floes were set adrift in Lake Erie by a wind shift, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
The fishermen were arrayed on the ice about a quarter-mile from shore off Catawba Island, 50 miles west of Cleveland, and a bystander on shore called authorities, the spokesman said. No one was injured.
