Charges Filed Against Owner of Dilapidated L.A. Building
The Los Angeles city attorney’s office filed criminal charges Thursday against the owner of a dilapidated apartment building at 1910 S. Los Angeles St.
Zaki S. Mansour, 53, of Huntington Beach was charged with 37 misdemeanor violations of city and county building, health and fire codes. He is scheduled for arraignment Feb. 20 in Los Angeles Municipal Court.
Among the violations noted by inspectors from the city’s multi-agency Slum Housing Task Force were cockroach and rodent infestations, and piles of trash and feces on the roof of the 32-unit building.
Several tenants said they had been threatened by Mansour after complaining about conditions in the building. All but a handful of the tenants have since moved out.
Mansour denied the tenants’ charges and said some residents had vandalized the building. He did not return calls Thursday.
