StarBase Corp.: The Irvine computer software products company posted a third-quarter net loss of $1.3 million, or 10 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $1 million, or 13 cents a share, for the like period a year earlier. Revenue for the three months ended Dec. 31 rose to $385,000 from $15,000. The company attributed the increased net loss to greater sales and marketing expenditures.

For the nine months, the company lost $3.8 million, or 32 cents a share, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $4.6 million, or 65 cents a share. Revenue was up 5% to $766,000 from $728,000. The company said the smaller net loss was due to the change in focus from product development and support services to product sales and marketing.
