Free Workshop to Teach Literacy Tutors
The skills for teaching an adult to read and write are just a daylong workshop away at the Conejo Valley Adult School.
The Thousand Oaks school’s free literacy-tutor workshop readies volunteers to work one on one with an adult on basic skills including reading, writing, spelling and speaking.
Tutors do not need a teaching background. After completing the training, tutors must commit to volunteering at least two hours a week--days or nights--to tutoring a student at the adult school’s Literacy Center.
The free workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Conejo Valley Adult School, 1025 Old Farm Road.
