Fullerton plays Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, one of the conference’s new teams, for the first time since the 1973-74 season. Cal Poly’s 79-62 victory against UC Irvine on Thursday kept the Mustangs unbeaten in the Big West. The Mustangs also defeated New Mexico State and UC Santa Barbara, which defeated Fullerton, 83-76, Thursday. Shanta Cotright leads the Mustangs, who average 30 three-point shots a game, with an average of 16 points. Forward John Williams has scored 20 or more points in seven of Fullerton’s last eight games.
