Women, Child Injured in Accident
PACOIMA — Two women--one eight-months pregnant--and a small boy were hospitalized in critical condition Friday after a two-vehicle accident, according to authorities.
The accident occurred at about 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Van Nuys Boulevard, said Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The child, who had been standing on the sidewalk when he was hit, was flown to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, Collis said.
The 20-year-old pregnant woman was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, and the 29-year-old driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
Another person refused treatment, Collis said.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation, according to officers at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
