Clustered-Schools Idea Will Be Discussed
Parents of elementary school students can attend meetings this week and next to learn more about a Garden Grove Unified School District proposal to cluster a dozen schools and divide them by grade levels to create more space.
One meeting will be tonight at Rosita Elementary School, 4726 W. Hazard Ave., in Santa Ana. The proposed cluster consists of Rosita, R.F. Hazard and Heritage schools. Under the proposal, Rosita and Hazard would handle kindergarten through third grades and Heritage would handle fourth through sixth graders.
Another meeting will be Thursday at Leo Carrillo School, 15270 Bushard St., in Westminster. The planned cluster consists of Carrillo, Thomas Paine and Susan B. Anthony schools, with the three higher grades going to Anthony.
The final meeting will be Monday at Gilbert Elementary School, 9551 Orangewood St., in Garden Grove. The proposed cluster consists of Gilbert, Ethel M. Evans and Faylane schools, with the higher grades going to Faylane.
All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the schools’ multipurpose rooms.
Parents attended the first meeting Tuesday night at Clinton-Mendenhall Elementary School in Garden Grove. The cluster consists of Clinton, Riverdale and Dwight D. Eisenhower schools, with Eisenhower taking fourth through sixth grades.
