Unit Instruments Reports Sales Drop
YORBA LINDA — Unit Instruments Inc. posted a loss for the second fiscal quarter as sales dropped 48%.
The company, which makes products for the semiconductor industry, said the severe downturn in demand for semiconductor equipment affected financial results.
Unit Instruments said it lost $2.7 million, or 61 cents a share, for the three months ended Nov. 30, compared with net income of $2.6 million, or 58 cents a share, which included a gain of $1.5 million on the disposal of operations. Sales dropped to $8 million from $15.5 million.
For the first half, the company posted a net loss of $2.6 million, or 58 cents a share, compared with profit of $3.9 million, or 87 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales declined 30% to $21.3 million from $30.6 million.
