Fluor to Manage Polish Refinery Modernization
IRVINE — Fluor Daniel said Thursday it has received two contracts valued at $30 million to manage a $400-million refinery modernization project in Poland.
Fluor Daniel is serving as managing contractor with Polish partners Prosynchem and Prochem for the Rafineria Gdanska S.A. project. They will manage design, procurement and construction of a hydrocracker, hydrogen plant, sulfur plant and other units.
In the past year, Fluor Daniel, Prosynchem and Prochem have conducted the conceptual and basic design for the facilities. Engineering is underway, with the project scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 1999.
Rafineria Gdanska, located on the Baltic Sea on the country’s north coast, is one of the two major refineries in Poland and is due to be privatized in the near future. It is part of Nafta Polska, the recently formed state company that holds oil and refining assets.
Fluor Daniel owns a majority interest in Prosynchem, which is located in Gliwice, Poland, and a 35% interest in Prochem, located in Warsaw.
