IT WAS A GIVEAWAY

As any astute New Yorker can tell you, the “Seinfeld” scene pictured in “You Are (Not) Here” (by Darrell Satzman, So SoCal, Nov. 17) is way off course. Residential buildings with frontal fire escapes are not found in Manhattan, particularly on the Upper West Side where Seinfeld is alleged to live. Also, the earthquake-reinforcement steel plates in the brickwork, clearly visible in close-ups, are a dead giveaway as to the building’s Southern California origins.
Should Seinfeld ever move (fictionally, that is), the producers would be well advised to use New York stock footage similar to the “Odd Couple” landmark, which was a genuine Park Avenue edifice.
