Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc.: The Garden Grove designer and manufacturer of computer chip stacking technologies reported a net loss of $985,000, or 6 cents a share, for the third quarter ended Nov. 30, 1996, contrasted with net income of $540,000, or 3 cents a share, for the same period last year. Sales declined 36% to $2.9 million from $4.5 million. A net loss of $1.2 million, or 7 cents a share, was reported for the nine-month period, contrasted with net income of $1.3 million, or 8 cents a share, for the comparable three quarters a year ago. Sales were down 20% to $10.6 million from $13.2 million.

The company said year-to-date results include inventory write-downs of $996,000, including $531,000 in the third quarter, as a result of rapidly declining memory chip prices.
