Thousand Oaks Opens Up, 83-48

Jenn Detmer scored 12 of her 24 points in the first quarter and Thousand Oaks High rolled to an 83-48 victory over Camarillo in a Marmonte League girls’ basketball opener at Thousand Oaks Tuesday night.

Eight players scored at least six points for Thousand Oaks (3-2, 1-0).

Brandy Speir scored 16 points for Camarillo.

Simi Valley 60, Westlake 36--Shannon Malia scored seven of her 13 points in the first quarter and JensaMetcalf added 11 for the Pioneers (4-1, 1-0) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Kristy Valencia scored 19 points for Westlake (1-5, 0-1).

Channel Islands 55, Newbury Park 43--Judy Tuimoloau scored 22 points for the Raiders (3-2) in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.

Malia Kimball had 10 points for the Panthers (1-4), who played without senior captain Amy Martin, who injured an ankle in the Buena tournament last week.

Royal 77, Agoura 60--Alicia Weber led a balanced Highlander attack with 15 points in a Marmonte League game at Agoura. Sarah Parola had 12 points and six assists, Michelle Berlin scored 11 points and Amber Sanders added 10 points for Royal (5-2, 1-0).

Kristin DeSimone had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Chargers (2-2, 0-1), who were outscored, 21-9, in the second quarter.

Palmdale 68, Barstow 51--Edniesha Curry had 25 points and Casey Bledsoe added 15 for the Falcons (6-0) at Barstow.

Ventura 67, Nordhoff 61--Nell Becker scored 31 points but the Rangers (6-1) lost for the first time this season at Ventura.

Alex Geintke scored 17 points for the Cougars (4-1).

El Camino Real 65, Van Nuys 31--Cara Blumfield scored 26 points and Aja Diamond had 14 points, 11 assists and six steals for the Conquistadors (5-0) in the Van Nuys tournament.

Calabasas 48, Oakwood 14--Heather Robertson had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Coyotes (5-3) at the Marlborough tournament.

Grant 56, Bravo 41--Leslie Mui had 15 points and Nakeisha Perkins added 13 points and 19 rebounds for the Lancers (5-3) at the San Fernando tournament.

Montclair Prep 54, Faith Baptist 42--Shannon Simpson had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Mounties (7-2) in a semifinal victory at the Faith Baptist Tournament.

Laura Power added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Montclair Prep.

North Hollywood 58, Burroughs 46--Sophomore Markia Derby scored 17 points and Lindsay Sotero-Higa added 16 for the Huskies (6-1) at Burroughs (4-2).
