Dustin Hoffman is suing Columbia Pictures in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming he and a production firm are owed more $1.5 million in proceeds from the 1982 comedy “Tootsie,” in which he plays the leading role. The actor is alleging breach of contract and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing. The actor claims he deserves more from deals with a cable network and foreign syndicates. A Columbia spokesman could not be reached for comment. Hoffman says he signed a contract that provides him 25% of the gross proceeds of “Tootsie” after it makes more than $130 million. As of 1990, the suit says, the film has generated more than $177 million for Columbia.
