4.7 Quake Hits Area Southeast of Tahoe
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled a district along the California-Nevada border about 30 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said. There were no reports of damages or injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Geological Survey said the 10:36 a.m. temblor, felt in South Lake Tahoe and Carson City, Nev., was close to the epicenter of a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that shook the area Sept. 12, 1994.
