Nixon’s Taped Comment on Jews

* As I read “Nixon: ‘Go After’ Jewish Contributors†(Dec. 8), I was once again reminded of the evil of this man and the overwhelming menace he was to our country. To me Richard Nixon, above any other leader, has left an indelible scar on American society--one, unfortunately, that will never be erased. He set the course for disillusionment, mistrust of our leaders, acceptance of unethical conduct, and most debilitating of all, an expectation of such conduct.

I am filled with such anger as I read more about this man and then recall the television coverage given to Nixon’s funeral and the many glowing speeches presented that day. As I listened, I wondered, were these people talking about the same Nixon that I remembered? Was being before the public more important than recognizing and accepting the true character of Nixon?

* Where is the great moral outrage usually heard from those on the right--Gingrich, Limbaugh, Robertson, et al.--now that Nixon has, again, revealed himself as the despicable individual he truly was?

Can you imagine the diatribes from them if Bill Clinton was similarly proved to be a bigot?

Isn’t it ironic that the people so quick to judge the morals of Clinton are the same ones who revere Nixon and for years have been trying to rehabilitate him, even knowing what he was.
