Dallas Loses Top Defenseman Hatcher

The Dallas Stars placed team captain Derian Hatcher on the reserve list because of a torn ligament in his left knee. Hatcher, 24, the team’s top defenseman, will be out four to six weeks. . . . Calgary Flame defensemen James Patrick and Zarley Zalapski will have knee operations Thursday to repair torn anterior cruciate ligaments and are out for the season.
