Rockwell International Corp. said it completed the $3.2-billion sale of its aerospace and defense businesses to Seattle-based Boeing Co. The world’s No. 1 maker of chips and chip sets for fax and data modems also said that under the tax-free transaction its remaining assets have been organized into a new firm. The assets include automation; avionics and communications; semiconductor systems; and automotive businesses. The new company will keep the Rockwell International Corp. name, the Seal Beach-based company said. The sale was completed the day after Boeing agreed to changes on some Pentagon projects to get antitrust clearance from the Federal Trade Commission.
