Rosales Calls It Quits After 4 Seasons at Ventura College

George Rosales has resigned as Ventura College’s football coach, the school confirmed Friday.

Rosales compiled a record of 9-30 in four years with the Pirate program.

Gary Anglin, a 14-year assistant coach, will fill in as interim coach until the search for a new head coach is completed.

Anglin is not a candidate for the permanent job.

“We’re looking for a complete program leader to bring the Ventura College football program back into prominence,� said Dick James, Ventura’s athletic director.

Ventura finished 3-7 this season.

Next up: The Northridge women’s volleyball team, champion of the Big Sky Conference and tournament, will learn on Sunday who it will face in the first round of the 48-team NCAA tournament, which begins Dec. 4.

Harris out: Chris Harris, a junior who scored 19 goals for the Simi Valley High soccer team last season, is academically ineligible, Coach Rob Looyen said.

Change of seasons: Jennifer Espinosa, an All-Marmonte League goalkeeper in soccer last season at Thousand Oaks High, has transferred to attend The Pomfret School in Pomfret, Conn., where she will play ice hockey.

Stepping down: Canyon High girls’ soccer Coach Michele Braceros said she will resign at the end of this season.

In four seasons as varsity coach, Braceros, who is 33-24-10 with the Cowboys, has guided Canyon to a Foothill League title and three Southern Section playoff appearances.
