Two Cal State Fullerton programs designed to help junior high and high school students in Orange County have received grants totaling $456,339 from the U.S. Department of Education.
Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound work with community organizations, school districts and community colleges to help underrepresented students improve academic skills, complete high school and pursue college degrees, university officials said.
Educational Talent Search, now in its third year, helps high school students in the Anaheim, Fullerton Joint, Orange, Garden Grove and Santa Ana unified school districts gain entrance to local community colleges or universities.
Upward Bound, in its second year, is a year-round program that prepares junior high and high school students in the Santa Ana Unified School District for college through biweekly after-school sessions, monthly classes, summer programs, individual college advisement and career-planning sessions.
