Saugus Turns Tables on Hart

The third time wasn’t very charming for Hart High.
The Indians, who won their first Foothill League volleyball title this season, lost to Saugus, 15-12, 15-8, 15-12, in the second round of the Southern Section Division I-A playoffs Thursday night at Hart.
It was the third meeting this season for the league rivals. Hart (16-2) won the first two.
Saugus outside hitter Lauren McCartin, who sprained her left ankle during warmups, recovered nicely with 19 kills.
Cynthia Slankard added 10 kills for the Centurions (11-4), who were second in the Foothill League and will play Thousand Oaks in the quarterfinals Saturday.

DIVISION I-AA, REGION IV
Royal d. San Gabriel, 18-16, 17-15, 6-15, 16-14--Nikki Guerra had 24 kills for the Highlanders (15-3) at Royal.
Carrie Swartz added 20 kills and Sherisa Livingston had 18.
DIVISION I-A, REGION III
Thousand Oaks d. Buena, 15-12, 15-8, 15-7--Jenn Detmer had 17 kills and 10 blocks, and Shelly Payne had 32 for assists for the Lancers (10-7).
Nicole Greathouse had eight kills for the Bulldogs (11-7).
DIVISION II-AA, REGION IV
Etiwanda d. Highland, 19-21, 15-8, 15-13, 15-11--Josie Wilson had 22 kills and 18 digs for the Bulldogs (11-5), and Jennifer Crosier added 30 assists.
DIVISION II-A, REGION I
Westlake d. Temple City, 15-2, 15-11, 15-9--Courtney Miller had 21 kills and Leigh O’Neill added nine for the top-seeded Warriors (17-2) at Westlake.
DIVISION III-AA, REGION I
Alemany d. Dos Pueblos, 4-15, 15-6, 15-12, 15-11--Sasha Hernandez had 15 kills and 24 digs for the Indians at Dos Pueblos.
Stefanie Lapointe added 14 kills and 12 digs for Alemany (11-5).
DIVISION III-A, REGION II
Notre Dame d. Nordhoff, 15-11, 15-3, 15-6--Kathryn Martin had 11 kills and 13 digs and Briana Hadfield had seven kills and nine blocks for the Knights (12-5) at Notre Dame.
DIVISION IV-AA, REGION IV
La Reina d. St. Bonaventure, 2-15, 15-11, 15-9, 13-15, 15-8--Kindrea Cuccia had 11 kills and Ayssa Hain added nine for the fourth-seeded Regents (18-1) at La Reina.
Jamie Behm had 15 kills and five blocks for the Seraphs (8-5), who lost for the third time this eason to La Reina.
DIVISION IV-A, REGION II
Bell-Jeff d. Maranatha, 13-15, 15-6, 15-6, 15-12--Jackie Johnson had 18 kills, seven aces and four blocks and Cheryl Flores had seven kills and six blocks for the Guards (13-5) at La Salle High.
DIVISION V-A, REGION I
Cornerstone Christian d. Grace Brethren, 15-10, 15-1, 15-0--Julie Siefert led the top-seeded Eagles with seven kills and 13 assists at Cornerstone Christian.
DIVISION V-AA, REGION I
Windward d. Campbell Hall, 4-15, 15-8, 15-5, 15-7--Alexis Kotelko had 17 kills for the Vikings (11-8).
DIVISION V-AA, REGION III
Cate d. Faith Baptist, 15-5, 15-9, 16-14--Lizzy Oliver had 15 kills for the Rams at Cate.
Elene Savoie and Jenny Labins each had 10 kills in a losing effort for the Contenders (13-10).
CITY SECTION 4-A DIVISION
Kennedy d. Narbonne, 15-4, 15-6, 15-3--Christine Thach had 12 kills for the third-seeded Golden Cougars at Kennedy.
Melissa Kuhn added seven kills for Kennedy (14-0).
Roosevelt d. Chatsworth, 15-13, 15-9, 19-17--Jennifer Joseph had 24 kills, but the Chancellors (9-5) came up short in a rematch of last year’s 4-A championship match.
CITY SECTION 3-A DIVISION
Canoga Park d. Fairfax, 10-15, 15-8, 15-7, 15-4--Janelle Balzer had nine kills, 16 digs and seven aces and Sandy Carr added 17 digs, three aces and 18 assists for the Hunters (10-5) at Canoga Park.
Bell d. El Camino Real, 15-0, 15-8, 15-9--Karina De Los Rios had 10 kills for the Eagles (15-2) at Bell. The 16th-seeded Conquistadores (7-6) were awarded a forfeit victory in a first-round match against Van Nuys.
Sylmar d. Eagle Rock 15-4, 15-5, 10-15, 15-7--Ingrid Ariza had 23 kills and 29 digs for the top-seeded Spartans (14-1) at Sylmar.
Patty Mendoza added 20 kills and 29 digs, and Sandra Smiley had 45 assists.
Poly d. Wilson, 15-3, 8-15, 17-15, 15-8--Edythe Seflin had 13 kills and 12 digs at Poly.
Gaby Gallardo had 11 kills, 14 digs and four blocks for the Parrots (9-6) despite sustaining a hip pointer early in the match.
