Taxes at Work in Hospital Feud

When will Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura stop with its crusade against the Ventura County Medical Center?

Taxpayers in this county should be outraged that CMH is using millions and millions of tax-free dollars to try and make the county shut down the County Medical Center. CMH doesn’t pay taxes on the money it earns because they are supposed to use their profits to benefit the people of Ventura. Instead, they pay their ego-puffed administrator, Michael Bakst, more money than they spend on free care to the poor of our city!

How come our so called “taxpayer advocates†aren’t speaking up to condemn this misuse of Community’s tax-exempt status?

Community Hospital has never had an interest in caring for the poor of our city. They should have the decency to let the county do so, as they have done for over 100 years.

* I am very angry about what our bureaucrats are up to now. When I read that Ventura County Medical Center was spending my tax dollars on a slick marketing campaign, I saw red.

What next? We already can’t keep our libraries open, there is never any money for schools, police and protective services. Everyone who works and pays taxes should stomp and scream about more wasteful government spending.
