Capistrano Valley Christian 16, La Canada Flintridge Prep 7--After La Canada Flintridge scored in the second quarter, Capistrano Valley Christian (2-3, 1-0) scored 16 points to win the league opener. Andrew Jennings’ second-quarter 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown cut Flintridge’s lead to 7-6.

In the third quarter, Wayland Williams scored on a two-yard run to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead. Capistrano Valley Christian added a safety in the fourth quarter.

In nonleague games:

Julian 33, Southern California Christian 7--Tony Chandler scored on a four-yard touchdown in the third quarter for Southern California Christian. Chandler rushed 17 times for 102 yards.

In Academy League eight-man:

Wildomar Cal Lutheran 46, Heritage Christian 40--Ron Hunt and Jason Steele each scored touchdowns in the last two minutes as Wildomar Cal Lutheran defeated Heritage Christian (3-1, 0-1) at Glover Stadium.

Liberty Christian 24, Harbor City Gateway Christian 20--Liberty Christian (3-2, 1-0) scored on a nine-play drive to secure an Academy League victory over Harbor City Gateway Christian (0-5, 0-1). Ryan Mayes scored on a one-yard run at the end of the drive to give the Minutemen a 20-14 lead.
