WESTMINSTER — An 11-year-old boy reported missing a day earlier returned home safely early Friday morning and told his parents he had been hiding because he thought he was in trouble at school, police said.
Cuong Ngoc Thach, a student at Susan B. Anthony Elementary School, showed up at home at 12:30 a.m. Friday and admitted he had been hiding behind trees and dumpsters from police and others looking for him, according to Westminster Police Lt. James Waller.
The boy apparently got off his school bus at the wrong stop at 3 p.m. Thursday and then either feared he would get in trouble for being hours late getting home or was upset about some other trouble at school, Waller said.
