Clinton to Visit County After 2nd Debate

President Clinton will visit Orange County next Thursday after a second presidential debate with GOP candidate Bob Dole in San Diego, according to officials with the Clinton campaign.
But the officials had no information on where the president will appear or whether the event will be public.
The president, who debates Dole Wednesday in San Diego, is in a dead heat with Dole in heavily Republican Orange County, according to a UC Irvine poll released in September. The poll found Dole leading Clinton 44% to 40% among likely voters, but among all registered voters Clinton edged out Dole 43% to 41%.
Typically, a Republican presidential candidate needs to carry Orange County by at least 300,000 votes to win the state, political strategists say.
Orange County is traditionally California’s greatest Republican stronghold and the place GOP candidates count on to offset large Democratic majorities in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.
