Busby Gives Florida State a Lift
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Thad Busby, who had struggled in two of his three starts, passed for 304 yards and four touchdowns--two to Ernie Green--as second-ranked Florida State defeated Clemson, 34-3, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game on Saturday.
The Seminoles (4-0, 4-0) started slowly, but then the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Busby got going. In the first half, Busby connected on pass plays covering 37, 60 and 23 yards for touchdowns and also completed passes that covered 50 and 42 yards to keep drives going.
Clemson (2-3, 1-2) enjoyed some success moving the ball in the first quarter. However, they were unable to score against the nation’s top defense.
Clemson’s Raymond Priester, who came into the game averaging 105 yards rushing, was held to 27 yards in 18 carries.
Florida State has outscored Clemson, 108-3, in the last three games at Tallahassee.
