Fountain Valley Rolls Past Jordan, Stays Unbeaten
LONG BEACH — Andrew Medley rushed for 99 yards and scored two touchdowns as Fountain Valley defeated Long Beach Jordan, 23-12, Friday night.
Medley scored a rushing touchdown and caught one as the Barons improved to 3-0.
Late in the first quarter, Mike Lamar rushed in from two yards out to give Fountain Valley a 7-0 lead.
However, on Jordan’s fourth play of the second quarter, Gerald Givens ran 68 yards up the middle to put the Panthers on the board. The extra point was missed and Fountain Valley led, 7-6.
Fountain Valley then used five minutes on the ensuing possession, capped by Lamar’s 26-yard pass to Medley. The extra point was missed and Fountain Valley led, 13-6, with five minutes 11 seconds left in the first half.
Almost two minutes later, Medley scored on a 39-yard run after the Barons recovered a fumble from Jordan quarterback Micah Smith.
Nathan Hanson kicked a 25-yard field goal with 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring for Fountain Valley.
With 9:11 left in the game, Chris Fields returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Lamar completed 10 of 20 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown.
